Nikkor AF 85mm f/1.8D

Got hold of this 85mm lens last week. Had been itching for it for awhile. Said to be a good portrait lens, sharp at all apertures and a nice bokeh. Not much time to really test the lens but the initial shots taken hold promise. These shots were taken wide open at f/1.8 using available light at ISO800....

Congratulations on the purchase of the new lens. With an aperture of f1.8, you can now save much on the use of you flash!!

Thanks! Pretty sharp lens. And definitely very useful in low light conditions.

The 50mm although value for money is neither wide nor long enough. The 85mm is more solidly built, sharp at all apertures & longer for a comfortable distance for portraits. Colours appear richer too.
