Old Edwardians' Website

My school's website was launched on 15 March 2006 at the Mandarin Court Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Quite a good turnout considering it was middle of the week. Met some legendary Tigers many of them whom had left school before I was born! Guest of honour, Tan Sri Ghazali Che Mat, former Chief of Malaysian Armed Forces, was the head boy in 1953. Support for the function appears tremendous as even the Taiping chapter had some representatives present. Despite the launch, there are some uncompleted details, links, language etc that need to be ironed out before it is fully operational. Many thanks to the website committee (Keat Swee, Suet Fun & Termizi) who had put in much effort to make the website a reality, expected to be an online aggregator for Tigers roaming all over the world.

Banquet show

Attended a birthday banquet over the weekend & there were some local celebrities present along with a splendid performance by company staff. The Sigma 70-300 was used to capture most of the stage scenes. High ISO1600 produced grainy results. Good and fast lens with at least F/2.8 glass sorely missed!

Model shoot

This held sometime in mid February and was arranged by fellow PMer Johan who organised a quick shoot with a couple of models designed for newbies like us to experience a model shoot. Complete with studio strobes & lights, it was a rewarding experience at a small cost.

Spanish culinary delights!

During the trip, we had paella after paella, having found out that each region has their own specialty in preparing the stuff. The best is said to be in Valencia. We had that while there but too hungry to take photos. And of course, tapas! These are small plates or bowls of cooked dishes served either hot or cold to accompany your favourite beverage. Here's some images of the food sampled in Spain.

Seafood paella in Barcelona

Grilled cuttlefish

Deep fried peppers

Shellfish in some spicy sauce

Fried calamares

Spanish bruschetta - raw tomatoes rubbed against bread with olive oil

Patata bravas - fried potatoes with a special tangy sauce

Selection of olives

Spinach omellete - popular breakfast item

Estrella - local beer

Hot chocolate at the Bra Cafe (since 1929)

Faces of Spain

I had brought along the Sigma 70-300mm lens for the trip just in case there were opportunities for some people watching. Here are some random pics taken.
